Deckle blue was created to combine my love of ceramics and print and to develop quality products that would be a good fit in the market stall or online shop.
My background is in ceramics, I graduated with a B.A in Decorative and Applied Arts and have only recently returned to using clay....I missed it! Over the past 7 years I discovered Printmaking, I found the freedom to express my creativity was more immediate and I was able to take more risks there was enjoyment in discovery of technique, colour, pattern and scale. I returned to ceramics with the same approach... simply to enjoy making beautiful pieces of work.
My Jewellery range is crafted from porcelain, I use moulds taken directly from natural forms as it creates a more natural and delicate finish, all of my jewellery pieces are unique and crafted individually, finished in oxides, underglaze and often gold leaf. I embellish with natural and manmade beads. All the fixings are hypo allergenic.
Deckle blue prints are all one off, most of my prints are Cyanotypes, a photographic process that uses light sensitive emulsion, when exposed to sunlight it reacts and produces a rich dark "blueprint" my prints often depict images, landscapes and the natural world. I also produce screen prints and photo intaglio small variable edition prints.
I am developing a range of screen printed textile cushions and table runners, each piece is individual in design, pattern and finish. The fabric is often finished with heat press foiling giving a luxurious and beautiful finish.
I will be developing an online shop soon. Please feel free to contact me with any queries.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site.
